In life, unfortunately, the loudest and most high-profile individuals often get the most attention. They usually yearn for the spotlight regardless of their intentions. And don't let the media get a hold of their remarks or ask them for a comment, we may wind up listening to pontification that we could have done without.
These “need to be heard" individuals exist in all walks of life. The truth of the matter is that you do not have to be high-profile to make a mark on this earth. In fact, from a historical perspective, we know less of the individuals who actually made a difference than we do about those who were front and center.
I actually don't desire to be the loudest person in the room. I just want to make an impactful splash. One that helps to make others and their situations better. Why? Being the loudest often detracts from what is truly needed. And while I don't fear the spotlight, making a positive impact resonates more. As you enter another week, I challenge you to ask yourself, "How can I help to change the world from right where I sit?" Your reflection may be historical.
Oh yeah, back to chess. On the chess board, I relate more to the Rook. This (castle) piece can cover a lot of territories and severely impact the game when least expected. It does have some limitations, but when utilized effectively, can change the entire narrative.
