How To Really Shift Your Mindset

Yes, the website is Shift Your Mindset. I talk and write a lot about it. I also try to live it because I know that these shifts in one’s mindset proceed to a shift in one’s actions and behavior. But what really goes into making these shifts? What will it take?

For most, shifting one’s mindset can be a challenging process, but it is definitely possible with intentionality and practice. So, humor me by providing some details on how to make this happen. I encourage you to reflect on how you can do this beginning this today:

  1. Identify your current mindset. What are your current thought patterns and beliefs? When you talk to yourself, what are you saying? Is it uplifting or somewhat negative? And how do you see the world around you? Have outside influences skewed your perceptions in any way? Consider asking a close friend or family member what they see and hear from you.

  2. Will and Desire. You have dreams. You have goals. Are they both specific and clear? And on a scale of 1-10, how much do you want to accomplish them? What is your will and desire to make them happen?

  3. Practice gratitude: Practicing gratitude can help you shift your mindset from a negative one to a more positive one. Start by making a list of things you are grateful for every day, and focus on the positive aspects of your life.

  4. Reframe negative thoughts. When negative thoughts come up (and they will come up), try to reframe them in a more positive light. Instead of thinking, "I can't do this," try thinking, "I can learn how to do this with practice and effort."

  5. Surround yourself with positive influences. Since we are the average of our five closest friends (and family), who is a regular in your life and do they subscribe to what you have been reading so far? Begin to surround yourself (more) with people who have a positive mindset and who support your goals. Seek positive role models and mentors who can help you along the way.

  6. Self-care. If you don't take care of yourself well, how I'll you be able to make a significant impact on this world? Taking care of yourself physically and emotionally can help you maintain a positive mindset. At the very least, look to make sure you get enough sleep, eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and engage in activities that bring you joy.

Shifting Your Mindset takes intentionality, focus, time, and effort; so be patient with yourself along this journey. Give yourself the grace that you know you will require. But ensure that you are making progress. And celebrate that progress In order to more fully enjoy and embrace the process.

You will be appreciative of your new lifestyle. This has changed my life. It will definitely change yours.
