Attitude Is Contagious

Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.

~Thomas Jefferson

It's still a new year. But we're a few weeks in. And things may not have unfolded for you quite like you might have wanted them to. So, what do you do? How do you approach the near future? How might you need to shift?

History has shown us that things around us do not evolve in a straight line. Since 1900, we have experienced various wars, over 20 recessions, unprecedented stock market gains, political polarization, significant climate change, and even epidemics (and pandemics).

Similarly, this year, we have already experienced two ongoing wars, variable economic environments, winter storms, and more is yet to come.

While we may not have control over most of the things that have been described above, there are still some things that we can control: how we approach each day, our attitude, who we surround ourselves with, our efforts, and our intentions.

I choose to only surround myself with people who are focused, determined, have a positive outlook, and communicate in an uplifting fashion. Why? Because their exuberance will only rub off on me. It will become contagious.

There is already too much negativity and pessimism that is shared online, on television, or from others; and there is no need for me to embody those characteristics. Therefore, I choose to have a growth mindset and a positive attitude.

This can only provide great things for this year and beyond. And just perhaps, it may rub off on someone who needs it also.
