Still Dreaming.

Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs.

~Farrah Gray

I don't know about you, but when I was a kid, I would dream about the future. I would dream of fancy cars. I would dream of being a firefighter. I would dream of living in Florida. I would also dream of buying my mother a home or having her to come live with me.

But something happened to me when I got a bit older. My dreaming stopped. My dreams got replaced. Replaced by deadlines, the company's mission and vision, bills I needed to pay, and a full calendar. They got replaced by thinking more about what was impossible and about society's ills. Yes, my dreams disappeared. I wasn't dreaming anymore. My mind was filled with the rhetoric of the day . . . from CNN, Fox News or MSNBC.

But dreams are important. They allow us to step into a world where the impossible can become possible. A world where we can push boundaries and ask What If. As you get ready to place a bow on another year and turn the page on a new one, please look to give your brain more space. More room to explore the unknown. To read more. To be more quiet. And when this happens, watch what begins to transpire. Watch your mindset begin to shift.

I'm a firm believer that with the right will and desire, our dreams can come to fruition. And to that end, I am back to dreaming again. But my dreams look much different than they did when I was a kid. I dream of a home overlooking the water. I dream of holidays with the family. I dream of a world where there is more equity. And a world where I can help to make a difference in the life of one person. A world where I am a change-maker.
